ICHI is a casual sushi restaurant whose main goal is to make sushi accessible to people of all ages and identities. The overall theme is simple, modern, and clean, using elevated versions of the colors typically found in sushi. Ichi is the Japanese word for one. At ICHI, you are not limited to just one type of roll, but rather, one of each. The problem to be solved with ICHI was an apparent lack of sushi restaurants that cater to people who have never tried sushi before and might be intimidated by it. I developed systems that would help a potential customer feel less overwhelmed by choices and ingredients that may not be familiar to them. The goal was to present sushi in a way that was approachable, but not disrespectful to the cultural significance of the dish.
